Over at the men’s mansion, the single ladies are twerking and enjoying body shots off each other. On the other side of town, the four women are treated to a sultry solo performance by exotic dancer and firefighter “Magic” Muggz at their villa. He is in his element while he grinds his hips on top of the extremely anxious Precious, who’s lying on the floor, with her hands on her face. “At one point, I opened my eyes and there was just junk in my face,” says Precious in her confessional, before adding: “I was like ‘Jesus, take the wheel’… My parents are going to kill me.”
The dress-up party is the calm before the storm as the women later attend their second bonfire session, where they are shown clips of their boyfriends becoming increasingly close to the single ladies – and let’s just say that the women are far from impressed.
S’bu owns up to his mistake
After the party, Musa pulls S’bu aside and she confronts him about his aggressive and drunken behaviour in episode 3, which left everyone at the women’s villa uncomfortable. Without any hesitation, S’bu takes accountability for his actions and most importantly, he apologises to Precious for patronising and belittling her relationship with Grant. However, it might be a little too late for S’bu to redeem himself as the ladies no longer trust his intentions.
A bitter pill to swallow
One of the themes explored throughout episode 4 is the single ladies’ struggles with facing rejection. Because the men – except for Sifiso – continuously choose the same women to go on dates with, the rest of the ladies feel neglected and excluded from the experience.
Despite the single ladies’ efforts to forge a connection with the men, MJ gives his attention to Bontle, Grant only has his eyes set on Coco, and Justin is always cooped up somewhere in the villa with Angelique. It’s frustrating for the rest of the ladies, who hear all about the dates but are never invited.
The ladies take up their concerns with Grant at the pool, but he seems reluctant to open himself up to any other woman. “[The single ladies] feel that they are being robbed. They’re here to go on dates and to tempt us. At the same time, they need to understand that this is our journey as well. I’m not going to just pick [them] because [they’re] complaining about not getting picked,” explains Grant, whose bond with Coco threatens his romance with Precious at the bonfire.
The bonfire goes up in smoke
To close the episode, the four women join host Phat Joe for an emotional bonfire session. As difficult as it is for Musa and Estelle to watch their boyfriends chat to the single ladies, it’s nothing compared to when Precious learns that Grant is falling for Coco. She breaks down in tears and the other three women comfort her.
Precious isn’t the only one who is disappointed in what her boyfriend has been getting up to at the men’s villa. Nthabi is devastated after she’s shown footage of MJ flirting with and touching Dimpho. It’s a bit on the PG16 side, leaving Nthabi fuming. “I’m numb,” says Nthabi. “I will deal with the emotions as they come. Once I’ve settled down and I’m calm, I’ll make rational decisions. I will decide whether I will forgive him [or not],” adds Nthabi with a shaky voice.
Unfortunately for Nthabi, it only gets worse from here: MJ will unleash his so-called bad-boy tendencies in the next episode and he’ll get even closer to Bontle.
